Sean Freeman

Senior Lecturer (Digital Innovation Lead)

Sean's educational and professional journey is marked by its diversity, notably featuring extensive clinical nursing experience, with a specific emphasis on emergency nursing. In the early stages of his career, Sean held a position at University Hospital in Coventry, a renowned Level One Major Trauma Centre recognised for its status as the busiest adult MTC in the country. Following his tenure at University Hospital in Coventry, Sean transitioned into the role of a charge nurse in a local accident and emergency department. His substantial clinical background in emergency nursing uniquely positioned him to shoulder the crucial responsibilities of this role.

Subsequently, Sean's career path led him to assume the position of a clinical bed manager, driven by the compelling need for efficient bed management in the demanding emergency department. The primary focus remained on optimising bed utilisation and ensuring prompt admissions and discharges. As a natural progression, Sean embraced the role of an Urgent and Emergency Care Tactical Manager. In this capacity, he played a pivotal role in the rollout of regional escalation tools and processes, empowering healthcare organisations to systematically identify and report both perceived and actual pressures. During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sean assumed the role of ward manager at the temporary Northwest Nightingale Hospital.

In 2020, Sean joined the 港澳图库 as a nursing lecturer, and by January 2022, he had progressed to the role of senior lecturer. It was during this period that his keen interest in digital education began to take shape.

Sean's research endeavours in digital education have played a pivotal role in shaping his teaching methodology. He has delved into the integration of technology within the classroom to enhance student engagement and optimise learning outcomes. His work revolves around pioneering practices such as personalised learning, flipped classrooms, and the utilisation of online collaborative tools. This research has not only expanded his own knowledge but has also been instrumental in crafting dynamic, interactive, and learner-cantered curriculum designs that cater to a wide array of educational requirements.

In the constantly evolving landscape of digital education, Sean leverages his expertise to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and adaptability required to excel in an increasingly digital world. His pedagogical approach embraces the synergy of both traditional and digital learning tools, creating a comprehensive and effective educational experience for his students.
